A large watercolour painting of the interior of a boat builder's shed, painted by George Douglas Walton. Beautifully observed, and competently executed with a pleasing palette.In good condition.
George Walton exhibited regularly at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI), and was elected a member in 1959. He exhibited this painting in the West Gallery of the RI in 1962.
The exhibition label to the reverse for the RI address as 195 Piccadilly, London. After 1970 it was based at The Mall. There is also an original 'James Bourlet & Sons Ltd' picture framing label, which notes their location at 17–18 Nassau Street, London (the company were based at that address from 1895–1974).
